This study guide provides background information to help you prepare to become a certifies operator by laying a solid foundation of important concepts that will aid you in the Operator-in-Training (OIT) examination for: Water Treatment (WT), Water Distribution / Water Distribution and Supply (WD/WDS), Wastewater Treatment (WWT) and Wastewater Collection (WWC).

This guide is meant to familiarize future operators with the common terms and concepts in the water/wastewater treatment industry. For this reason, it is directed towards people with little or no exposure to the water and wastewater industry.

This guide is not a replacement for comprehensive training programs. The study guide is applicable to all four OIT examination modules, but not all chapters apply to all types of OIT certificates/licences.

This guide is a textbook style guide with self-study questions at the end of each major section.
